Following the introduction of risk assessment the following items are recommended for use in swimming pools.

• Gates to prevent access to pool hall from changing area.
• Barrier rails outside changing area entrance to prevent direct access to pool. Recommended 2/3 distance from pool and 1/3 distance from changing area. Minimum recommended length 2 metres.
• Handrails to footbaths to enable safe passage.
• Grab rails in showers to prevent sliping.
• 200mm wide top treads for pool steps to infill gap and prevent accidents
• Barriers on pool side between main pool and learner pool.
• Gates to flume access.
• Barriers to springboard.
• Replacement barriers to diding stages or infill panels for security barrier.
